DETAILS
Welcome to Cascade Park, a historical gem with over a century of memories. Our one-hour tour begins at Nina's Italian Ice. We will visit The Midway once bustling with food vendors, gift shops, and the popular rides: the Comet and Carousel. Next, we visit The Comet, originally named "The Gorge." Built in the 1920s by Billy Glenn and renamed in 1955, this roller coaster was a symbol of excitement. Glenn even had a summer home beneath it. We then come to the grand dance pavilion, built in 1897 and the only original building left. It was once Pennsylvania's largest venue of its kind, hosting countless dances and social events. Our journey continues to The Old Mill, a serene log ride created by Glenn in the 1920s, offering a peaceful escape as visitors glided along a circular water path. At the theatre, imagine an open-air venue for performances, later replaced in the 1920s when the carousel moved. Next, we reach the lower entrance, the park's original gateway for trolley visitors, offering scenic views of a manmade lake and beautifully arranged floral displays. We then visit the swimming pool, built by Glenn in the 1920s and replaced in the 1970s. Families and children created cherished memories here, splashing and laughing. Finally, we arrive at The Falls, the natural centerpiece of Cascade Park. Since its inception, the Falls have symbolized the park's serene beauty. As we conclude our tour, reflect on Cascade Park's rich history and enduring charm, preserved for future generations to enjoy and create their own memories.
